Passage: Deuteronomy 29:2-30:20 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: Relationship & Responsibility - Deuteronomy
Speaker: Lukus Counterman - As Moses nears the end of his life, he gives the people of Israel a closing address on the plains of Moab. The unbelieving generation who heard the covenant at Horeb had perished in the wilderness, but now their children and grandchildren were about to enter the promised land. For them, the covenant terms needed to be renewed, so Moses reviews the agreement between God and his beloved people. In this section of Deuteronomy, we get a condensed version of the book’s main message. Moses reviews the past, speaks to the present, and looks to the future of the elect nation of Israel. And it all closes with an evangelistic fervor and strong exhortation to choose the path of life found in covenant obedience. May the Lord renew our hearts in covenant devotion such that we too choose life.
