Passage: Matthew 16:13-20 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: Standalone Messages
Speaker: Lukus Counterman - In Matthew 16:13-20 we see the first mention of the word “church,” and it comes from the mouth of Jesus, the Head of the church. Jesus uses this word to refer to an assembly of followers that he would build to proclaim his name and spread his blessing to the people of the earth. The heartbeat of Christ is described in this passage – he expresses his desire to build his church. What wonderful news when he says that he wants to use faith-filled disciples in the project. May he embolden each of us to herald the gospel and may he encourage each of us invest in his work.
