Passage: Galatians 1:1-5 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: Gospel Rooted Living

Length: 54 mins 8 secs Plays: 2662

Speaker: Lukus Counterman - One way to deny the truthfulness of a message is to deny the authority of the one who gives it. The Galatian church had received the true gospel of grace from Paul and had believed it until some false teachers came in after he was gone.1 They not only attacked the validity of Paul’s apostleship, but also the veracity of his gospel message. Apparently the “Judiazers” had convinced some of the Galatian church members that Paul was a self-appointed authority with no divine commission, and his message was inadequate for fullness of life in Christ. So at the outset of the letter, Paul dispensed with the usual personal greetings and immediately began to establish the legitimacy of his apostleship and sufficiency of the gospel. He calls the confused Christians in Galatia to return to grace and gospel-rooted living.
