Passage: Genesis 21:1-34 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: By Faith
Speaker: Lukus Counterman - Faith, patience, and perseverance - that’s what it takes to inherit a promise (Heb. 6:12; 10:35-36). After about 25 years of waiting Abraham was finally rewarded with the birth of a son through Sarah. When all human scheming and planning to fulfill God’s promise were utterly exhausted, the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what he had promised (Gen. 21:1). Sarah’s laughter of disbelief in (Gen. 18:12-15) was turned to rejoicing. The Lord’s faithfulness and miracle-working power brought about the birth of Isaac and subsequently the birth of the nation of Israel. As we examine this text, let us laugh with Sarah and rejoice in the Lord’s faithfulness and power “For with God, all things are possible” (Matt. 19:26). May he strengthen our hearts and increase our faith, patience and perseverance.
