Passage: Luke 1:21-52 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: Advent (Past)
Speaker: Lukus Counterman - Christmas is a season of hope. Some are hoping to get that gift at the top of their list. Others are hoping to enjoy time with family and friends. Still others are just hoping for some peace, rest, or joy this season. The fact is most people are looking forward to something or someone at this time of year. Such was the case in Luke 2:21-35, where we encounter an old man filled with hope. But he wasn’t waiting for a present or some time off work. He wasn’t preparing for a visiting family member from out of town. He was hoping for the consolation of Israel. He wanted to see the Messiah before he died. Wrinkled, old Simeon longed for an encounter with Jesus. That was his Christmas hope. Is it yours this season? May the Lord transform our wish lists so that Jesus is our hope.
