Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: The Gospel about God with Us
Over the Christmas season, we have been turning our attention to the gospel, the good news that God is with us. What does that mean, though? Last week, we looked at the truth that the baby born in a manger in Bethlehem was fully God. This week, we look to Jesus as fully man. Jesus has a human body, emotions, mind, and will, and that truth in no way compromises the truth we looked at last week--His deity. When the Apostle John says that the Word became flesh, when eternal God took on a human body, he did not merely become a partial man. He fully became man. This truth holds incredible encouragement and power for us. Jesus is like us in every respect—body, heart, mind, and will—except for sin. Jesus never sinned in His body, heart, mind or will, and therefore, He is able to save the body, heart, mind and will of those who come to Him in faith. “That which he has not assumed he has not healed. but that which is united to His Godhead is also saved.” (Gregory of Nazianzus) Today, would you listen to God’s word as it describes the glory of Jesus in His humanity.
