Passage: Matthew 6:9-10 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: Standalone Messages
Speaker: Lukus Counterman - Since the days of the disciples, people have wondered WHEN Christ would return and establish his Kingdom. (Matt. 24:3) “As he [Jesus] sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately saying, ‘Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” Jesus’ response was summarized a few verses later. (Matt. 24:36) “Concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” It seems clear from that text that we don’t know, and can’t know when Christ will return. If that’s the case, what should we do while we wait? The answer to that can be found in Matthew 6. There we find that we are not supposed to PREDICT his coming, nor are we supposed to swing the pendulum and simply IGNORE his coming. Instead, Jesus taught us to PRAY for his coming. We are to pray for his return; pray that his Kingdom would come.
