Passage: John 8:12-30 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: John - That You May Believe
Speaker: Lukus Counterman - Chapter 8 continues Jesus’ declaration of who He is. At the Feast of Tabernacles, part of the liturgy was very probably Zechariah 14:5b-8 (. . . And there shall be a unique day, which is known to the LORD, neither day nor night, but at evening time where shall be light. On that day living waters shall flow out from Jerusalem. . .) Jesus had stood up during the Feast of Tabernacles, first declaring, “I am the living water.” Then in our text for today (John chapter 8), He declares, “I am the Light of the World.” Jesus’ statements were very clear connections to OT prophecies. He was claiming to be the Savior and promised Messiah.
