They think that because they turn away from him, he no longer exists. But the Most High will not be disregarded; he will not be ignored. In Daniel 5, Belshazzar was a king who knew about Yahweh. He had watched God’s dealings with proud Nebuchadnezzar. But despite such clear history lessons, Belshazzar lifted himself up before the Lord and was ultimately struck down in judgment.
