Passage: Luke 10:25-37 Speaker: Pastor Jon Kopp Series: The Parables of Jesus

Length: 50 mins 16 secs Plays: 496

Speaker: Jon Kopp - In Luke 10, Jesus tells one of his most well-known stories--the parable of the Good Samaritan. It is a story of unexpected and practically limitless generosity. This pithy story has been used by many both to describe a stranger who acts kindly and to encourage others to do the same when they see a need. But, is that all that Jesus intends his followers to grasp from this compelling scene involving a man in need, religious leaders and a Samaritan? Certainly not. Jesus has something more in mind in telling this story than just encouraging us to be kind to others. This story isn't about less than that, but it is about much more. Though this may be one of the most well-known parables, it is often one of the most misunderstood. To see that for yourself, take some time to examine not just the details of the parable, but also the entire conversation that the parable is a part of. What question is Jesus answering with this unique parable? And what does that mean for anyone who seeks to find eternal life? As we examine this text together, may God help us to see what He requires, receive what He offers, and share what we've been freely given.
