Passage: Deuteronomy 1:19-46 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: Relationship & Responsibility - Deuteronomy
Speaker: Lukus Counterman - In the opening chapters of Deuteronomy, we encounter a journey through what A. J. Culp calls, “moments of decision.” The people of Israel are reminded of events in their past so that they will make fresh decisions of faith for the future. It’s as though God wants to encourage them to decide in their hearts that they will wholly follow him right across the boundary line of Canaan into the blessings that he has in store for them. As events unfold, the Israelites quickly discover that fear and faith don’t mix. So, Moses encourages the people not to make the fatal mistake of unbelief. His clarion call in the second half of Deuteronomy 1 is, “Trust God and don’t suffer the fate of your forebears.” May the Lord help us hear his voice and follow his lead by faith.
