Speaker: Lukus Counterman - Aquila and Priscilla were ordinary people who lived extraordinary lives for the Gospel. They met Paul when he came to Corinth on his second missionary journey, and God wove their lives together. This committed couple welcomed Paul into their hearts and home, to live with them and work with them making tents. While earning a living was important and necessary, the time that Paul spent with Aquila and Priscilla accomplished more than the production of leather-worked living quarters. In their time together over eighteen months, Aquila and Priscilla were established in the doctrines of the faith. What resulted, was a couple who passionately wanted to spend their lives for the cause of the Gospel. Their trade became a means of supporting ministry, their home became a hospitable place to host ministry, and their spiritual growth became a source of discipleship and the spread of ministry. Sometimes people think that God’s work is built on the gifts and abilities of paid professionals. But what we learn from Aquila and Priscilla is that Gospel ministry is built on disciples who are willing to spend their lives for a cause greater than themselves.
