Passage: Luke 1:39-55 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: Advent (Past)
Speaker: Lukus Counterman - In our passage this weekend, Luke outlines the part of the Christmas story just after Mary learns about her miraculous pregnancy. You can imagine how she must have been reeling at the idea of a virgin giving birth to the Messiah. But while she contemplated the work of God, Mary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth. There, the unborn John the Baptist leaped at sound of Mary’s arrival. Elizabeth blessed Mary because she was carrying the Christ child, and Mary responded by praising God with the well-known scripture known as the Magnificat. In this account we are going to learn about the blessings associated with receiving God’s Son, and the praise that must be given because of the giving of God’s Son. May the Lord help us rejoice in Jesus this Christmas.
