Passage: Isaiah 9:1-7 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: Advent (Past)
Speaker: Lukus Counterman - All the way back in Genesis 3, the Fall brought hostility, brokenness, and separation to human existence. But things would not always be ruined. People would not remain distant and harsh toward one another forever. A promised child, a Messiah would come to earth with healing in his wings. He would establish a Kingdom of peace and bring such restoration that the mountains and hills would burst into song. Peace would flow like a river. You can almost hear the rippling brook when Jesus said words like, “Peace be with you.” It seemed as though every time he preached the gospel, he was proclaiming “the good news of peace.” When Christ finally went to the cross, “the punishment that brought us peace was laid upon him.” So, this Christmas, let’s remember the Prince of Peace who offers reconciliation and rest for every aspect of life. (Isaiah 9:6-7a) “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end.”
