Passage: 1 Corinthians 6:1-8 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: 1 Corinthians - Pursue Love
Speaker: Lukus Counterman - Conflict arises in every community, but Christians are supposed to handle their problems in light of the gospel. Somehow the church at Corinth forgot about the cross-work of Christ and their own forgiveness of sins. They were fixated on their own rights and threw Christian love by the wayside amid their grievances. Internal disputes escalated to public litigation. These believers were shamefully acting as though the gospel made no difference in their lives. Paul takes this opportunity to remind Christians in conflict about how grace and justice find perfect balance at the cross. Believers have been washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of Jesus, and that should change how we handle disputes. May the Lord help us learn how to take sin seriously but handle it graciously.
