Temptation and the Fall

January 27, 2013

Passage: Genesis 3:1-7 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: Beginning - Genesis 1-12

Length: 50 mins 31 secs Plays: 2664

Speaker: Lukus Counterman - In our series, we've already seen God's Word create all good things (Gen 1), and God's Word command the way of life (Gen. 2), but here we see God's Word attacked, twisted and ignored (Gen. 3).  Here the woman listens to the serpent, the man listens to the woman, and no one listens to God.  It is an account of temptation that leads to the fall.  But God doesn't want us to be \"outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs\" (2Cor. 2:11).  Instead, He wants us to learn how to live victoriously in the face of temptation.  In order to do so, we must have a precise knowledge of the Word of God, a wholehearted trust in the goodness of God, and a reverential awe and obedient fear of God himself.   Deuteronomy 30:19-20 says, \"I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse.  Therefore choose life... loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days.\" May the Lord help us.
