Passage: Luke 12:13-21 Speaker: Pastor Will Galkin Series: The Parables of Jesus
Speaker: Will Galkin - In Luke 12:13, Jesus was rudely interrupted by a man who wanted Jesus to settle an inheritance dispute. Jesus dodged the request and revealed this man’s true motivations by addressing the crowd. Jesus warned all in attendance, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” The American church needs this exhortation just as much as—if not more than—those who were hearing the exhortation for the first time. Today's Christians are some of the wealthiest Christians of all time. Sadly, they can be just as preoccupied with material possessions as the world around them. May God help us to remember the purpose of life, focus on the needs of others, and live in light of eternity.
