Passage: Luke 22:39-71 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: Luke - Past Promises, Present Redemption
Speaker: Lukus Counterman - After leaving the Passover meal with his disciples, Jesus heads to the Mount of Olives to spend time in prayer. He suffers great anguish as he contemplates the cross ahead, and sadly none of the disciples stay awake. The silence of the evening is broken by a clamoring mob with swords and spears led by Judas the betrayer. He sells Jesus into the hands of the Jewish leaders for 30 pieces of silver. The disciples scatter. Peter denies any association with Christ. And things seem to go from bad to worse. But then, before the council of the Sanhedrin, Jesus hints at a great reversal. The Cloud Rider and King of the Old Testament will take his throne and make all his enemies his footstool. And with that glimmer of hope, true disciples look towards the cross.
