Christian Engagement in a World Like Ours

How do we engage the world around us? As Christians, we desire to see the world transformed by the gospel. Those who have experienced God’s work in their own lives surely want to see it brought to bear on their neighbors, coworkers, and communities. The call to engage the world, however, quickly feels ambiguous and out of reach, and it seems that the world we find ourselves in only adds to the challenge. The prevailing culture no longer shares the same values and hopes as us. The aim of this class, therefore, is to equip you to engage people who have been shaped by this post-Christian culture. We will cultivate our Christian identity as exiles waiting for a future city as we seek the welfare of the city in which we live. From there, we will enter and explore key values of the world around us and explain how the gospel tells a better story. In doing so, we hope to equip you to bring Christ to bear in the world you engage each day.
